‘The Guardian’ is reporting that the University of Michigan is switching all first-year grades to pass/fail. A notice from the university said that the school is hoping to help first-year students acclimate to the demands of post-secondary education. The school’s dean said that the move should help reduce students’ stress, anxiety and depression. Is this an effective decision, or is the university going too far?
