By improving systems, removing barriers, and fostering collaboration, she has helped create an environment where the UCSF community can thrive and lead into the future.

Maria is a recipient of the 2026 Chancellor Award for Exceptional University Management. The UCSF Chancellor Distinguished Service Awards celebrate the outstanding service of faculty, staff, and learners to the university and the UCSF community in fulfillment of our mission of advancing health worldwide.
