Lp(a), is one a genetically determined risk factors for cardiovascular disease. People with high Lp(a) can face dramatically elevated risks of heart attack, stroke, and premature death—and unlike LDL cholesterol, there are currently no widely available treatments specifically designed to lower its risk.
