We came to Persian Cottage in Middlesbrough, one of the highest-rated restaurants in town, to try authentic Persian food, and from the hummus to the massive mixed grill, everything was better than we could have imagined.
Kalani and Tanner from Project Fear teamed up for this one. At Persian Cottage, we ordered hummus, a smoked aubergine dip, and a full Persian mixed grill platter for two with added lamb chops... piled high with koobideh kebabs, saffron chicken, grilled meat, grilled tomatoes, and fresh salad, all served with a giant piece of Persian flatbread. We started it off with a traditional Persian tea served in a beautiful ornate tea set.
As Americans, most of us have never tried Persian food β and after this meal, we don't know why. The flavors, the portions, and the hospitality were unreal. The service at Persian Cottage was some of the best we've had anywhere in the UK, and it's easy to see why the locals love this place.
If you're ever in Middlesbrough and you want incredible authentic Persian food, this is the spot. Have a hidden gem restaurant we need to try next? Drop it in the comments.
