If you’ve ever used a light stand that jammed, didn’t quite fit the space, or made you question whether it would stay put, you’ll understand why I wanted to try the new MagStand by MagMod. I put this new stand through it's paces during a real shoot and everyone on my team agreed that this stand has some incredibly useful features.
The button-based height adjustment makes quick changes fast and smooth, and the legs lock solid in one motion so I’m not second guessing stability. It has a compact footprint for tight spaces, a built-in hook for extra weight when needed, and the 9-foot version even packs into a standard suitcase. The removable center pole can also be used as a handheld monopole when a stand won’t work.
For me, it’s one of those tools that quietly makes shooting easier so I can focus on the light and the image instead of fighting my gear.
