If you follow my work you know that I love era specific style photography such as burlesque, pin-up, Ziegfeld Follies etc -- mainly for their pageantry, expressive use of color and gorgeous lighting. You can do so much with this style and that was the aim for this shoot.
The goal was to mash up burlesque style with updated high fashion and super saturated colors.
The look for this shot was giving me revved up vintage pink Barbie vibes… definitely nothing ‘natural’ or subtle about it. I even was feeling a bit of Austin Powers fembot energy coming from my lovely model lol.
My lighting was actually inspired by a photographic hero of mine, Miles Aldridge. His color is regularly a source of inspiration for me! If you haven’t seen his work, it's definitely a good time to get inspired by it now.
For this shoot I used 4 lights:
💡 Mainlight: Magnum reflector
💡 Fill Light (plus color pop): Deep Umbrella w/ Diffuser
💡 1x4' strip softboxes for fill x2
