Describe-first isn't a house rule — it's the actual adventuring procedure B/X is built around. In this video I break down why sequencing (describe, then roll — not roll, then describe) protects the referee from improvising backward, keeps secret information like traps and ambushes actually secret, and is the mechanical foundation underneath “player skill over character skill,” not just a slogan floating above it.
