This week we have the State of Play rumors ramping up as Sony typically likes doing a presentation in February and now it sounds like thats happening again! We also had a rumor come in late about the PlayStation Portal. Looks like the OLED upgrade is real and coming perhaps? Speaking of rumors, GTA VI allegedly wont get a physical disc print at launch. Seems hard to believe personally. Elsewhere in the week we have the Highguard launch, Ken Levine talking about Judas, MLB The Show 26s cover athlete, Tony Dalton talking about Naughty Dogs Intergalactic, and PS3 streaming is back. WOOO! And PS Plus Essential for February is looking pretty solid. Other things look solid but its not necessary to talk about that right now. Nor is it appropriate.

This week in the PlayStation realm we have a new beta that just went live for the Welcome Hub on PS5 and the Read Receipts feature now being available for most users. Theres also the new PS Plus Extra & November lineup where we can see Sony is walking away from PS VR2 games on Premium. Total bummer! However theyre NOT walking away from Japan with this recent report that the CEO is more motivated to get Sony back on the map in the region. We also have Concord making a huge comeback! And then Sony said not on my watch. If they cant sell Concord, NO ONE CAN HAVE IT. Elsewhere in the week theres the 2025 Game Awards nominees, and a solid Xbox Partner Showcase. Not too shabby. I think Ill wrap up this description now.

This week Sony has been accused of using generative AI art for a promotion theyre running, and theyve already backpedaled after being caught! We also have a new deal that SIE signed wit Bad Robot Games for a 4-player co-op IP from the Left 4 Dead Creator. So another PS5 console exclusive seems to be in the pipeline. Then theres the wild revelation that the cancelled London Studios live service game is back under a new studio name and it looks.. interesting. Elsewhere in the week we have TGA madness going on with rumors, leaks, and a giant statue tease from Geoff Keighly. And the week wouldnt be complete without hardware concerns with the ongoing RAM shortage getting worse. This is definitely one of those this is fine moments while everything around us burns. Yup. This week we have more speculation surrounding next-generation consoles as Microsoft has openly said their next box will be premium and high end. We might just have a situation where PS6 is half the price of the next Xbox if that ends up being true! And that tracks with Shuhei Yoshida recently saying Sony cant keep increasing power with next-gen, they need things like the DualSense or the SSD. Elsewhere through the week we had the new PS5 Pro model get a teardown, a new PS5 software update, a new PS Store feature, and more power saver updates! There was also a big report about Microsoft wanting 30% margins from Xbox which seems insane. Pretty big industry news going on, and here I am getting hardly any sleep because 30 Platinums Part 4 is doing a number on me.

This week Sony got some flak for uploading a trailer of a Resident Evil clone on their channel for PlayStation. And the complaints seems to have made them take it down! Is Sony gonna start getting serious about PS5 shovelware? Hmmm maybe not. But in the meantime we also saw Sony file a patent where you can use an AI Assistant that can play your games for you! How very 2026 of them. Then theres the Sony Honda Mobilities Afeela 1 supporting Remote Play, the new PS5 Console Covers & DualSense Hyperpop lineup, a PS5 jailbreak, Xbox Game Studios news & rumors, and more controversial AI comments. This week the PS5 disc situation gets worse as PlayStation has now started putting disclaimer stickers on new disc consoles going to retail. And this is right after their financial report where they told reporters that the backlash isnt effecting them. We also have some new job postings at SIE that might imply the company is looking into non-endemic advertising? Uh oh. Then we have Capcom stoking the flames, they seem unfazed about the end of physical media. Aaaand elsewhere in the week we have a report that the global memory supply is all used up for 2027.
