🧶 Pattern
Base Band:
Ch 21.
Row 1: Sc in back bump of 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (20 sc).
Tip: If working into the back bump is difficult, use a 5 mm hook to help ease into the stitches—then return to the 6 mm.
Rows 2–5: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across (20 sc).
Body of Bag (V-Stitches):
Row 6: Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), turn. Dc in first st.
V-st (dc, ch 1, dc) in each st across. (20 V-sts).
Row 7: Ch 4, turn. Dc in ch-1 sp of first V-st.
V-st in each ch-1 space across. (20 V-sts).
Repeat Row 7 for a total of 35 rows of V-stitches.
Closing Band:
Row 41: Ch 1, turn.
Sc in each ch-1 sp of V-st across. (20 sc)
Rows 42–45: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each st across. (20 sc)
Sides & Straps:
Note: If you're right-handed, you'll naturally work in a counterclockwise direction (to the left) as you go. You’ll follow a repeating sequence of: strap → side → strap → side.
Strap:
Ch 65 and turn.
Join to opposite top corner with a sl st (be sure chain is not twisted).
Side:
*Sc across the 5 sc edge of the bag (1 sc per row = 5 sc).
Sc in each V-st row-end space along the side (1 sc per row = 35 sc).
Sc across the 5 sc edge of the bag (1 sc per row = 5 sc).
Ch 65 for second strap and sl st to opposite top corner to join.
Repeat from * until you reach the first ch-65 strap.
This completes Round 1 of edging.
Rounds 2–6
Work 1 sc in each chain and stitch around the entire bag.
For the strap chains, I recommend working into the back bumps (back loops of the chain) for a neater edge.
Tip: Use a stitch marker to keep track of your rounds.
To finish, slip stitch to the first stitch to join or use an invisible join.

Starting chain: 18 (17 single crochets)
Body: 25–30 rows of V-stitches
Straps: 55–60 chains
