This Alabama Coastal Plains chert absolutely shocked me after heat treating.
The reds, purples, blues, and golden tones in this spall are some of the best I’ve ever seen from this material. In this video, I take this heat-treated spall and reduce it down into a clean biface while showcasing just how slick and glassy this stone becomes.
