Some 3d printers can print in 2.85 or 1.75 mm diameter filament. You have to remember to switch the two in Cura, or else you end up with a bad case of over extrusion. It's an easy setting to change, but also easy to forget.
I like 2.85 mm more than 1.75 because it tangles less, last longer, and easier to handle. The 3D printing market is switching to 1.75 thanks to the boom in cheep desktop printers that only run 1.75.
