We kicked off the day by flying the drone over our eliminator pile in the potato cellar to check for sprouts, rot, and moisture issues — without climbing a 25-foot pile of rolling potatoes 😅 Technology definitely makes life easier. Thankfully, no sprouts and no major rot… but we may need to tweak the humidity a bit.
From there, it was shop time.
We Tore into the John Blue fertilizer pumps
Replaced a bad tube in a tire (and fixed some “smunched” threads)
Welded up heavy 3x5 drag bars for the planter
Loaded up over 10,200 lbs (5+ tons!) of scrap metal
Watched the claw at the scrapyard throw our old planter like a toy 🤯
We’re upgrading shop lights to LED with the scrap money, picked up long-awaited gearboxes for the manure trucks, and (hopefully) getting closer to finishing those pumps once parts show up.
Also — if you’re an Idaho potato farmer, comment below. I’d love to know how many of you are watching and maybe work together on ideas to help bring crop prices up.
Appreciate you guys being here.
