Update, today, on 2/13/25, I looked behind the phone booth and discovered that the phone cord had be cut.
I used a public phone to call about a hearing I wanted to attend. The info wasn't available online. Someone answered and gave me the zoom info. The hearing was to intervene in a case where the defendant's Public Defendant didn't seem to be representing him very well. It looked like the Information was sufficient. Like the defendant was being targeted by the cops, likely in collusion with the Mayor of Clearwater. So, I filed to intervene. His PD had told him that she was going to ask for a trial date. She hadn't even filed a motion to dismiss. The PD ended up asking for a continuance, because she decided there was cause to file a Motion to Dismiss.
A couple hours later, I went back to try to call about the Pinellas County Commissioners office. The line was dead.
So, I walked back and asked the Court Admin to fix it. It just occurred to me that it was likely these damn crooked deputies who disconnected it. They give me a hard time all the time and regularly reference a case I have down in Sarasota, that was a false arrest. I'm guessing they didn't want the defendant, in the other case, to have a fighting chance.
