I review the noir suspense masterpiece, THE WINDOW (1949). Directed by legendary cinematographer Ted Tetzlaff, based on a Cornell Woolrich short story and featuring enough Htichcockian elements to make it eerily similar to Rear Window which followed 5 years later. this is simply put one of the greatest suspense thrillers Hollywood ever produced with perfect elements across the board. The fantastic cast is headed by young Bobby Driscoll who would win an honorary Oscar for this and another film. It remains an absolutely perfect suspense gem-a film that will have the audience screaming at the screen when not biting their nails.
Warner Archive has made a gorgeous 4K scan of original elements which makes the incredible visuals of this film come to life like never before. Unfortunately I did spot one fleeting tiny instance of frozen moving grain haloing and the audio source seems to have some inherent issues. Otherwise it's a stellar must own disc with demo worthy B&W visuals for one of the greatest suspense films ever made. There are sadly no extras.
This is one of the films that should be studied in film schools. It is literally PERFECTION in all areas of cinema in only 73 minutes!
