The good folks at River Ranch Resort in Noel, Missouri invited me out to experience everything they have to offer and we went all in. Over two back-to-back weekends, we floated day and night, grilled steaks, camped under the stars, and even stayed in their cozy cabins.

Growing up, I spent countless summer days floating the Buffalo River, thinking it was the only way to experience floating in the Ozarks. But just 45 minutes from Fayetteville, the Elk River offers its own unique charm. Crystal-clear water, lush riverbanks, and a laid-back atmosphere that’s impossible not to love.

If you’re looking for a relaxing 5- to 10-mile float where you can drift with friends, soak up the sun, and enjoy the outdoors without rushing, River Ranch is a hidden gem worth discovering.

This trip wasn’t just about the river. It was about making memories with my kids, capturing those “attic moments” I’ll revisit for years. Watching the sunset while floating down the river, fireworks lighting up the sky, and little faces glowing with wonder, I knew I was living the good old days, right now.
