We drove 60 miles down the beach to the end of Padre Island… and found something incredible.
No people. No signs. Just sand, sky, and surf.
Tucked behind a dune, we found the perfect stretch of untouched shoreline and set up camp right on the edge of the water. It felt like our own private island—until the ocean had other plans.
This video captures the highs and lows of a remote overlanding trip to one of the most secluded spots on the Texas coast. From simple campfire meals and childhood nostalgia, to near disaster as the tide surged in faster than expected, this experience reminded us why the ocean holds so much power—and so much meaning.
For me, it’s more than just a place to explore. It’s where life began. Where we’re drawn back to. The ocean is a time machine… and out here, you can still feel its pull.

Christmas time in the Ozarks slaughters the senses. It’s equal parts nostalgic and pleasant. You can feel it in the icey cold Mulberry. You can smell it in the burning campfire juniper. And if you’re like me, can taste it in the mint, espresso and Kentucky bourbon. Since I was a kid Christmas has always been a magical holiday and so me and a few of my buddies went searching to find more of that seasonal cheer. Through some ups and downs I think we found just what we were looking for.
Though the water levels had dropped some it was still flowing. That gentle natural white noise makes for some of the best sleep you’ll ever get. With time change the sun sets so early in the day! Even though I actively plan for it I’m somehow always caught off guard. But we didn’t spend our life savings on Offroad lights for nothing! The trail does start to get slightly more technical as you near the falls but it’s still very accessible. This is a place I think everyone should visit. It’s not difficult to find. A quick search for Spainhour Falls will bring it up. But to make it a little easier for you I put the route down below. Tread lightly and leave no trace.
Gently flowing water is harmless. Yet with persistence, it can carve the earth in two. Christmas is a lot like that. It’s the small, quiet acts of kindness and generosity that over many years help shape the heart. Even the story of Christ’s birth is told with little to no fanfare. Tired, frightened, middle eastern immigrants giving birth in poverty. But they, like the water, were persistent over time, and because of that we’re still talking about it today. Consistently focusing on the next right decision rather than always staring off into the horizon dreaming of some hypothetical finishline, I think will get you where you want to go more effectively. And since there’s really no context for the season outside of community find one. Whether a church or school or family or Offroad group, whatever. Find one, practice the fruits of the spirit consistently. We all do that and I have a feeling it’ll feel like the holidays all year long. Dr. Suess nailed it on the head when he said Christmas doesn’t come from a store. Christmas perhaps means a little bit more. If we manifest these principles in our own lives. We invest in others. Build more bridges and less walls, maybe that’s how you sleep in heavenly peace.
