In 2006, an anonymous user on 4Chan posted an in-depth plan to carry out a series of incursions in NFL stadiums, which he claimed would eventually lead to the destruction of the world.
Because the writing was so insane, many believed it to be fake. However, the user kept coming back and spamming the post all over 4Chan, making it a massive meme.
The post quickly went viral, literally reaching all corners of the internet. But sites like Facebook didn’t take it as lightly as 4Chan, and many of the users were absolutely terrified.
Because the post got so big, the FBI and Homeland Security were forced to get involved, mobilizing massive security sweeps at stadiums in cities like Miami, New York, and Seattle.
Even though they found nothing, this began an international manhunt for the anonymous user who made the initial post. Soon, federal agents were able to track the user down to Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and arrested a grocery clerk named Jake Brahm, just days before the alleged incursion.
