The Tech Jacket Problem

You guys don’t even know how long I was waiting for my goat to be animated, my sweet glorious king known as Tech Jacket. After reading the Invinciboe Comics I immediately picked up his solo series which I definitely recommend by the way that shit fucks. And after already catching a glimpse of him in season 3, I was of course hyped to see that in Season 4 he’ll have a bigger role to play. Now for those of you who don’t really know much of Tech Jacket in the comics, allow me to explain the lore. Tech Jacket is a human on earth who came across a piece of geldarian tech, known as a tech jacket. After a dying Geldarian sees Tech Jacket attempting to help him but can’t warn him of the ship they crashed in self destructing in time, he gives Zach the tech jacket. The alien device did what it did and Zach survived the explosion. Similarly to Ben 10 he can’t take this device off of him and it’s more powerful than any weapon on earth. Of course he can fly, make weapons and regenerate from damage, allowing him to combat some of the most powerful threats in the universe. Tech Jackets solo comics are pretty fun and nice in between info that I recommend checking out on your own. He’s out here throwing ships into the sun, tanking nukes, and fighting world ending threats, and they have some really cool panels that you need to see for yourself. The first time we saw Tech Jacket before the confirmation on the gender for the show continuity, was during the Invincible War. Tech Jacket was one of the only heroes capable of killing a Variant of Mark on her own, and the reason why I think her feat is particularly impressive is because Viltrumark is not one of the weaker variants. In the comics it’s a lot more intense however since we see Tech Jacket actually overload his suit and murder 2 of the variants, but this is like obviously after Tech Jacket used self destruct and by himself he couldn’t really keep up. I do wish however we saw Tech Jackets fight with said variant since I think this would’ve been a good promotion for her in the next season. But I digress, we don’t truly get introduced to Tech Jacket until Episode 5 of Season 4. She would be fighting a monster known as the Walking Dread, real subtle Robert. And I think this whole scene really does well to capture who Tech Jacket is as a person and what he or she is all about. In a world full of super aliens, demons, immortal beings, and cyborgs, Tech Jacket is just simply a human who wants to do good the best way she can. Tech Jacket in the comics is only looked at as “better” because of his comics that the show hasn’t even had a chance to adapt which is very much a possibility. But excluding that and looking at what fans only read / watched in the main series, Tech Jacket isn’t really all that different. Yeah we don’t get a scene of fucking Zach’s dad saying he grew a beard but who honestly cares? Funnily enough tha scene is replaced with Zoe’s dad being depressed and letting himself go because he’s worried for his daughter. It does more for her character and isn’t just “dude you grew a beard”. I do think the reasoning for the gender being swapped is weird though like apparently it’s because he looks in Invincible. If you’re so worried about that, why is this guy even here? Anywho, I’m fine with Zoe as Zach. I hope Tech Jacket and Oliver by the way are not being set up as partners. I know people are kinda just assuming this off one interaction but I honestly think it would be cool if Oliver and Zoe were genuine friends. This of course gave Tech Jacket a decent edge since it allows her to combat them better or just have Allen come in to clean house. But the issue is that half of the time she misses these and then shows that she in fact could damage a viltrumite with her full powered blasts. Anywho this is much better than the comic counterpart who just gets beat up by Anissa and then fought randoms until he eventually passed out. He generally did not accomplish anything even against the nameless viltrumites. So I mean yeah Tech Jacket has always been kind of a jobber. He was never meant to be as strong or fast as characters like Mark and Nolan, but what he lacks in strength he makes up for versatility and ingenuity. And if im being real Zoe has shown to be a great tech jacket and maybe we’ll get those comics adapted in the future which would push her to be more likable. But Yeah, Tech Jacket, although is my goat, has always been a bit of a fraud.

Ace VS Natsu was a vs match that Death Battle covered many years ago, with the conclusion of the match being very corny since it came down to like a type match up like it was pokemon. Instead of doing some weird verse equalization bs to come up with a corny W, today i want to actually analyze who realistically would this match in 2024. For this matchup I will be using not only Ace’s feats in the manga and anime but also in his mini novel series that IS canon to the manga. While for Natsu I will be using the current BASE Natsu from 100 YQ. The reason for this is because both versions have a very similar aura to one another, with them just flexing and passively burning the environment around them. But lets see whose aura is not only hotter, but who would win in a vs battle. Starting off, we have Portgas D Ace, the son of Gol D Roger and the holder of the Mera Mera No Mi. A Logia Devil Fruit that allows Ace to become the element of fire itself, making him intangible for those who dont have Haki. Haki by definition is just the spiritual energy that the user harnesses, which you could argue thats what pretty much Magic is in Fairy Tail, but regardless this point does not matter in the long run due to Natsu being able to hit intangible things. However, if Ace is way faster than the dragon slayer, he could simply never get hit by morphing around his attacks. Ace as well doesnt just shoot basic fire blasts, he can use things like Fire Fly which is a range of mini bombs that surround the enemy, covering a pretty decent range. Hes got fire finger guns and crosses and spears. With the brother of the sun god out the way, lets now talk about the man related to the wizard of darkness, also known as Natsu Dragneel. Now Natsu is a Fire Dragon Slayer, which is a unique type of magic that allows him to specifically harm and well “Slay” Dragons. With his element being fire, this makes him not only resistant to most fire related attacks, but he can even EAT fire and increase his own power in return. Natsu can shoot all kinds of attacks ranging from basic fire punches and kicks, to making wings, breath attacks, and can coat specific parts of his body in fire. In terms of both Fire Power and Physical Strength? Im afraid Ace falls a little short as well. Warming up something as big as drum island is impressive, but we have to remember Natsu had a passive heat aura that was melting stone and peoples clothes. This like Ace was a Natsu not necessarily trying, and Natsu himself would have an easier time dealing with Ace’s fire then Vice versa. The physical aspect is also kinda not fair since Ace mainly had one fight to show this off, which was against Blackbeard. We followed Natsu for the entire manga so its kinda a given we would get more actual showings of his physical prowess. Fairy Tail is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima. It was serialized in Kodanshas Weekly Shōnen Magazine from August 2006 to July 2017, with the individual chapters collected and published into 63 tankōbon volumes. The story follows the adventures of Natsu Dragneel, a member of the popular wizard[b] guild Fairy Tail, as he searches the fictional world of Earth-land for the dragon Igneel. With his pirate crew, the Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy explores the Grand Line in search of the deceased King of the Pirates Gol D. Rogers ultimate treasure known as the One Piece in order to become the next King of the Pirates. The manga spawned a media franchise, having been adapted into a festival film produced by Production I.G, and an anime series produced by Toei Animation, which began broadcasting in 1999. Additionally, Toei has developed fourteen animated feature films, one original video animation, and thirteen television specials. Several companies have developed various types of merchandising and media, such as a trading card game and numerous video games. One Piece has received praise for its storytelling, world-building, art, characterization, and humor. It has received many awards and is ranked by critics, reviewers, and readers as one of the best manga of all time. Several volumes of the manga have broken publishing records, including the highest initial print run of any book in Japan. In 2015 and 2022, One Piece set the Guinness World Record for the most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author.
