The WORST Invincible Episode?

With Invincible Season 4 Episode 4 released, we finally get to see the new Hell Arc for Invincible. Which was an exclusive arc made by Robert Kirkman himself, an arc that was supposed to be in the story but never made it, it's finally here. And.... there's honestly a lot to say both good and bad so, lets talk about the new episode of Invincible, and see what Damien Darkblood has also been up to. Mark vents to Art about how he crossed a line and believed he proved himself to be more like Omni Man, and attempts to turn in his suit as he believes he’s not a hero. Art would give him some W words of wisdom though, and even return him back to the classic suit. I do like that the show still dives into how Mark's mentality is changing, and right now Mark is doing some self reflecting believing he’s crossing a boundary but this is honestly debatable. Which I feel is the point of course to add a layer to Mark that people in the universe of Invincible can be split on. Now more importantly we get an insight on the new arc that Robert Kirkman wanted to include in the comics but didn’t manage to pull it off. This is of course the Invincible “Hell” Arc which, I’m not going to lie…. Is very hit or miss. I will say I’m happy Robert managed to incorporate a story he’s always wanted to do and I always love to see creators get this kinda narrative freedom. But when looking at exactly the purpose of this arc in comparison to the rest of season 4, it feels almost out of the loop. We see the main villain Volcanikka causing some chaos and threatening to of course reach the surface and destroy everything there after ruling down here. We get to see Dark Blood again, only this time we see him get absolutely nae nae'd on by Volcanikka. But of course this gives him the idea to use the blood from the Guardians crime scene, which allows Mark to basically be teleported to the underworld, since Omni Man isn’t on earth and Mark has his blood. We then cut to where Mark was, which just so happened to be with another hero who’s currently talking to the same Mummy that’s been lingering in the back of the show for some time now. The hero would be possessed and we’d see the Mummy realize this girl got flown by Invincible, meaning he’s got a whole lot of walking to do. I swear if this mummy dude gets built up just for him to get mogged on by like Robot or Brit, I’d be genuinely so mad due to how long they’ve wasted on this. Anyway though, before we even get to see Mark throw down he first helps Satan get back his prime body which uhh, yeah this is what Satan looks like it’s pretty disgusting. But seriously I think it’s pretty cool we get some different perspectives here and having Mark's morals truly being put to the test, but we unfortunately don’t get to see very much of that aspect. Instead we get entire scenes of them legit falling down and yapping about Hell not being so bad, or technically there not being a world without Satan. Yeah I’m sorry, why does this help our protagonist grow? The one time before this underwhelming fight takes place too we see Mark legit sending. Dark Blood into the air as he goes on to fight a Cerberus type beast OFF SCREEN. It felt like any chance they had to make this kinda cool and maybe show off the character connecting all this together… aka INVINCIBLE, they instead barely utilize him in this new arc, giving him one genuine moment that I believed kept this all together. This of course was Mark's interaction with Volcanikka herself. Where she claimed to invade her planet, and due to Invincible already having some decent trauma, he wasted no time in mogging her. Now I don’t mind that she’s this weak and doesn’t press Mark to the upper limit, my thing is though why is she losing to the legit randoms that were with Darkblood like.., are you guys sure you needed bros help. Give me that weapon Darkblood and I would’ve cleaned house no Invincible needed but hey that’s just me. Seriously though I just kind of wish this arc had more to offer, especially with a cool design that was Volcanikka and the aesthetic of Hell being very nice, I was honestly expecting something with a bit more substance. I don’t want to call this filler but man it kind of borders on filler, and we really only snap back to reality once Nolan and Allen arrive. We know this is where the Viltrumite War is going to take place, which is the main big event of the season. It seems like this is all we got for The Hell Arc, which unfortunately is probably the weakest part of Season 4, at least so far. 7/10.
