The Boys Finale Problem

That finale for The Boys Season 5 was a finale of all time wouldn't you say? To follow up on my Homelander video I have to at the very least speak on Homelander when he has v1 in his system, and see if he actually lived up to the hype. Now if you were to ask me this after seeing Episode 6’s ending, I would've said I'm not sure but this is a damn cool introduction scene to get me hooked. However by the time of the finale, I'm left questioning what was the point of even giving Homelander v1. I know the point was to give him immortality, and because of this a lot of people believe that this is the only thing v1 accomplished. But we have to remember V1 is specifically stated to be 10x more potent than normal compound v, which already amplifies your powers the more you have inside of you. Saying Homelander like has a capped level of strength and Heavenly Restrictioned himself out of a stat increase makes no sense since the point of having v1 was not just to become immortal, but was a key in Homelanders ascension. V1 Homelander based on what Season 5 was showing us should’ve been a force that even the previous Homelander level threats now are incomparable to this new version of him. If this wasn't the case why did we even get this scene of him shooting his heat vision into the sky more potent than ever? If they actually followed through on this then you’d be forced to actually care about the strong characters you just ignored all season. This would also help push characters like Marie, Soldier Boy, or even people like Starlight and Ryan who had crazy potential to be involved in this fight and actually be required to take down this new monster. I mean Hughie could’ve stepped in since he had the Temp V vial, we could've got this peak image. I'm just kidding, this is awful but I digress. Instead Homelander with V1 umm… Speed Blitzes towards Frenchie… and Lowkey was losing a 2 on 1 against Butcher and Ryan. If they wanted to mainly emphasize this then having Butcher unironically playing support while Marie and Ryan go in for their hits would definitely be effective and that way you can save Billy for the final beat down with Homelander, which should still stay the same because that scene is peak. But Realistically speaking if it was that easy for Butcher to pull up on Homelander and jump him, they could have straight up just done this in the boot camp if the gen v kids were here. I'm convinced they would've won and the reason for this is because of how bad v1 Homelander does against Butcher. We see during the fight he performs better after seeing Ryan due to being enraged. So we have an Enraged v1 Homelander somehow not obliterating Billy and Ryan, we have Kimiko surviving laser blasts from Homelander when Kimko has been cut in HALF by a weaker Homelander. We have Billy and Ryan holding Homelander back when a weaker Homelander somehow escaped Billy Soldierboy and Hughie. Do I need to keep going. It's genuinely so tragic to see my goat fall from grace, especially given his consistent portrayal of power in previous seasons. Homelander in this same episode sent someone into space, and yet every time he tried flying away from the White House. He’d all of a sudden jump like he doesn't accelerate at super speeds and move at 5 frames per second. Homelander at this point is just a joke and unironically weaker than his Season 3 self according to the show's logic. If Ryan and Kimiko + Butcher were pulling this off, then we should've just wrapped it up in season 3 with Soldier Boy removing Homelanders powers. I didn't mention this in the last video, but Starlight was another character that amounted to nothing and especially in the finale. Fighting the Deep is cool and a nice circle back to season 1, but her vs Homelander has been building up for seasons, and the fight was live for the world to see. This was a perfect chance to show Starlight what she could be capable of, and instead she just doesn't try to fly back after beating The Deep. Even with just her and not Marie I'd be okay with this but it's laughable how the show slimes out Soldier Boy just for them to use the same method that he already had to defeat Homelander. Once again I'm left wondering why the show even bothered giving Homelander this power up or adding in this plot line all together. This was the main focus of the season and I was expecting Episode 7 or especially the finale to really set the scale, but I'm just ultimately bummed out. The second half of this episode is great and I'm satisfied with the conclusions of our main characters, but it felt like this season pulled strange things and turned their brains off during production. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
