Critical Issues Commentary | The Tale of Two Cities: The World Builds Babylon, Part 1 @CICministry | Uploaded November 2021 | Updated October 2024, 1 day ago.
Jesus is going to bring us a city, the new Jerusalem, but humanity wants to build a kingdom apart from Him. Babylon is man’s kingdom. In this first message in our series about Babylon Pastor Eric Douma examines why the first city of Babylon and its corresponding tower was built. The tower of Babel incident becomes a type for Babylon throughout the rest of Scripture. We learn that mankind’s refusal to disperse and “fill the earth” led humanity to attempt establishing a one-world order in rebellion against God. We learn from this that God has ordained multiple governments and borders to restrain the evil inclinations of mankind. He goes on to show that this is what is under attack in our world today.
