Stooky Bill was the name given to the head of a ventriloquist dummy that became the very first ever televised image in 1924.
John Logie Baird invented the television and created a mechanical system that could transmit moving images. Under so many lights. it was impossible for a human to sit for a length of time, so Stooky Bill was placed in front of the spinning disk, and soon the face of Stooky appeared on Baird's television set in his laboratory in London.
Today, the original Stooky Bill head and Baird's machine are on display at the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford. However, Stooky found new fame in 2023 when he featured as a plot device for the evil Toymaker in The Giggle, the 60th Anniversary special of Doctor Who
