Before the modern Spider-Man games… this was the one.
The Neversoft Spider-Man game on PS1 (also released on N64 and Dreamcast) was, for a long time, considered the best superhero game ever made — and honestly, it’s not hard to see why.
It had everything. A full story, tons of villains, unlockable suits, and a surprising amount of fan service with cameos from characters like the Fantastic Four and Captain America.
Built by the same team behind Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, this game even led to Spider-Man becoming a secret playable character in Tony Hawk 2.
And the Dreamcast version? Handled by Treyarch — the same studio that would later go on to develop Call of Duty.
Looking back, this wasn’t just a great Spider-Man game
it was one of the most important superhero games ever made.
