The Afghan National Army is in the process of doubling the size of its Special Operations Corps.
Afghan commandos from the Afghan National Army Special Operations Command, or ANASOC, are key to the future of Afghanistan’s security. They serve as the primary assault force and conduct 80 percent of Afghan National Army offensive operations.
Camp Morehead is the principle site training ANA Commando Kandaks (battalions). The first commando class graduated from Camp Morehead on July 28th, 2007. In 2017, the Commandos conducted more than 1,800 operations, and were undefeated on the battlefield.
