Only a few minutes offshore from Lady Elliot Island, there is a two masted sailing boat which sunk off the island in 1998. The wreck is partially covered with underwater plants and there are always schools of fish congregating around it. Soft and hard corals covers the remains and provide food for the fish. The wreck of the Severance lies on a sandy sea floor, 21 metres deep.
