This edit mainly focuses on Luke and Ben and their similarities. Both of them have been used to a certain extent because of Vader’s legacy. I remember the whole discourse about Rey defeating Kylo on her first try and that it didn’t make sense because Luke was defeated by Vader in their first fight. Ben is the skywalker of the trilogy, not Rey. So instead, Ben losing to Rey paralleled Luke losing to Vader. It kind of makes me laugh now because we totally ignored the actual Skywalker in the scene.
Luke didn’t find out about his natural ability and that his father was Darth Vader until he was about 19 or 20, which is why I think he was strong enough to resist manipulation and the pull to the dark side, unlike Ben who grew up with it. The fact that Snoke’s manipulation on Ben started when Ben was so young (which I find extremely sad), it really clouded his judgment. It may be the reason as to why he’s conflicted and why his decisions are unpredictable and often not the right ones.
Ben is the seed of the jedi order that Snoke is referring to, and obviously Rey as well. I think that Luke ended up believing in Rey’s vision of Ben, and believed that his nephew would return to the light. But he isn’t relying on Ben to bring back the Jedi Order. it's not that he’s the seed that will bring back the order, he’s the seed that will bring back hope. Luke has faith in the fact that he passed on his strengths to Ben, but also why the Jedi Order shouldn’t return. He has faith that his nephew will make things right with Rey and the rest of the galaxy.
