Finally fulfilled my promise and goal to remake this with HD clips from TLJ! Out of all my edits that I now have to redo in HD clips, this is actually one of my favs. I enjoyed comparing the old Luke to the new Luke and making similarities between the two. I copy and pasted the description from the original edit :)

Old description - [I love Luke’s character. And I still do after watching TLJ. Also sorry if the quality of the voiceovers suck, I wanted them to be audible.
This might get hate and I was hesitant to post this. I know most people believe that TLJ ruined Luke’s character, that it was character assassination. To me, it wasn't. Making this edit made me realize how in character he really was.
This whole movie was sort of a punch in the gut from reality itself. Rey was naive to think that once she got to Skywalker, he would be the legend everyone knows of, a hero that has done no wrong. She’s naive to think that he will teach her the ways of the Jedi, then face Kylo Ren again, beat him, and hooray the war’s over. She believes that bringing back the Jedi Order is something that should be done, and that it will solve things, but Luke nails it right on the head. The Jedi are looked at as morally driven people. Strip away the layers and look at their deeds, you get failure, hypocrisy. They were hubris. The Jedi code has always seemed dehumanizing, so much that it led to the creation of Darth Vader.
Because of what happened with him and Ben, it doesn’t make him evil. At least, not to me. From his mistakes, Luke's portrayed as the most human out of all the Jedi masters, which is why I'm not so pissed about it anymore. Yoda and Obi Wan urged him to confront Vader and kill him in episode 6, but Luke refused, saying that he can’t kill his own father. And literally Obi Wan’s petty about it, telling him that Vader’s already won then. If Luke were to honestly follow the Jedi Code and detach himself from the people he loved, he would’ve killed Ben right then and there because of the pain and destruction he saw his nephew would cause. That scene with Luke standing over Ben practically mirrored the moment he stood over Darth Vader after cutting off his hand. He immediately feels ashamed in both of these moments. His humanity is what brought him back, and it is also why Luke knows that the Jedi must end. Even Yoda knows.
People argue and get pissed off that the storylines in this movie had no point, but Yoda literally states that failure is our greatest teacher. Basically everyone failed whatever they were trying to accomplish, and that’s the entire point of this movie: people learning from their failures and growing from it. Part of growing up is failure but also seeing the reality in things. And I feel that this movie focused a lot on these two main things: reality and failure. Two prominent aspects of adulthood.

So there you go. That’s what I think of all of this. And it literally hit me after seeing it the third time in theaters. I do feel like they wrapped up his storyline beautifully. He looked out to the binary sunset when he was 19 years old, yearning for purpose. Now he has purpose. Luke will and always look to the horizon. Even after death. Poetic. Cinema.]

I hope you guys enjoy this! Especially in high definition haha!! ❤ ❤ :DD
