STORYLINE:
LEAD IN

A model boat-building team in Madagascar has hand-crafted ships for Prince Albert of Monaco, the King of Spain and even the Pope.

The highly detailed replicas are made in a workshop known as 'The Village', and can sell for up to 10,000 euros.

STORYLINE

Madagascar is the fourth largest island in the world, but despite being surrounded by sea it has little tradition of ship building.

But that all changed in 1993 when The Village began making sailing ships - albeit miniature replicas of the real thing.
