SETI is an institute dedicated to the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. Perhaps the deluded folk at SETI would do well to point their telescopes and detectors at their own institute first. There is no possibility whatsoever for a living entity to travel interstellarly. It never happened and never will.
Nevertheless, by the time the most intelligent beings possible in the Universe — humans — develop to their maximum intellectual and economic potential, they immediately after become extinct. This movie was repeated over and over in countless Earth-like planets that came before us.
Life is simply a very scarce resource in the Universe. The next Earth-like humans live beyond the ability to contact them, not so much in space, but more so in time. Father U only gave humans about 200 years to develop electronic technology and less than 100 to send and receive cosmic messages. The windows of technology of both planets would also have to coincide.
