Let’s get started with AMD, The company really showed its Enterprise dominance with its latest event. They pretty much revealed their Epyc CPU lineup for the next couple of years with up to 96 cores on the upcoming Genoa platform with the Zen 4 Architecture and up to 128 Zen 4C cores on their Bergamo platform.
They also revealed the insanity that is their MI 250X instinct GPU. Seriously, this one is a monster. It Uses the CDNA 2 Architecture and can have up to 220 Compute units. That’s a LOT. The highest-end 6000 series RDNA 2 GPU has a Max of 60! All in all, in specific applications, it wipes the floor with Nvidia’s A100.
And yes, it's a multi Die design. Not Chiplet design but Multi die. What’s the difference? Well, Remember first-gen Zen? Well, On the mainstream platforms, we got everything on one chip. And on higher-end processors like with Threadripper and Epyc, we got multi Die designs or multi chips. Meaning that we had more than one chip on a substrate, but they were all identical, and they all were essential, individuals cpu’s. When the chiplets appeared with Zen 2, We had one chip that controlled the IO, and a different type of chip for the processing cores.that was their The Chiplets. This allowed for better yields for AMD, and of course, they could focus their efforts on improving the Zen architecture without worrying about the IO die. Its the same on both Zen 2 and 3.
So why am I going on about this ? Well, Leaker extraordinaire, Greymon 55. Recently tweated some extra information on Navi 31. Now, some things we knew. 5nm + 6nm, over 15 thousand Stream processors, but he did add some stuff. Though he is uncertain about it. It could have up to 32GB of GDDR6 running at 18Gbps, It could have up to 512 MB of infinity cache, and that cache would be in 3D. So stacked on top of a chip.

![AMD Ryzen 7000 RELEASE DATE Leaked! It’s EARLY!
Let’s get started with AMD. It looks like Christmas is coming early! The company just had its earnings call for the second quarter of this year, and they had some pretty interesting information about the release date. As you know, the Zen 4 based generation on the AM5 platform was announced during Computex. Or at least the release windows were announced, and it was slated for the fall of 2022.
I know I’ve been saying that a lot lately, but fall is between the 22nd of September, to the 21st of December. Recently, what we’ve been hearing is a release date of September 15th. So I was pretty skeptical about that date because its before fall. Now though, during that earnings call, Lisa said, Let me play the clip. * Looking ahead, we are on track to launch our all-new 5-nanometer Ryzen 7000 desktop processors and AM5 platforms later this quarter, with leading performance in gaming and content creation.” So yeah, it looks like the 15th is the actual release date! Another thing that caught my attention is this : *Our next-generation RDNA three architecture is another major step forward for our graphics roadmap, delivering more than a 50% generational improvement in performance per watt by combining our most advanced gaming architecture with 5-nanometer triplet manufacturing.*
Now it might just be an oversight, or maybe I’m wrong about this, but by Dr Su saying that they’re combining their best tech with 5nm chiplet manufacturing, doesnt that point towards a multi-chiplet GPU?

![Samsungs 990 Pro NVME is DESTROYING Itself?
Lets get started with Samsung. You know, over the years, Samsung really built a great reputation when it comes to solid-state storage. Their EVO and PRO lineup were definitely the top tier. I remember I was super excited when I got my first NVME drive. it was the 970 Evo, a super popular model. And its 5 years later and still going strong. Other brands now are also solid contenders, but there isn’t really one with Samsung’s pedigree.
Now though… Things might change. The company recently released its 990 pro nvme drive. Its still PCIe Gen 4, and its blazing fast almost maxing out the Gen 4 standard. It does up to 7450 MB per second in reads and up to 6,900 MB per second in writes. Plus, thanks to a better controller and newer firmware optimized for direct storage, this drive should be a beast in all categories. Tweaktown even gave it a 99% rating.
Anyways, its a great drive! So why did I say that things might change? Well.. reports are coming left and right of this drive basically killing itself. One of the first reports was from Midian on the overclock dot net forums. About a month after he bought his drive, he noticed that the health of the drive had already dropped down to 93%... OUCH. Could it be that he abused his drive ? Well not really. Crystal disk info shows that he only wrote about 7 TB worth of data. And if you do the math, given that 990 Pro’s are rated for 1200 Terabytes written,
That means he should be at 84 terabyte written to get to that 7% of usage. So maybe he got a bad drive? Well, if we jump over to reddit, Robbie kanh posted that his 990 pro also dropped significantly in health. Thanks to those 2 posts, this information was spread a little more by outlets like PC gamer and Tweaktown.

![AMD’s RX 7900 XT Will Have 7 CHIPLETS (Dies)?
Lets get started with some GPU news. And today we got a bunch of stuff for the triforce of Graphics companies. Starting with the green team, we have an April fools joke turned into a leak. Kopite7Kimi over on Twitter had an Aprils fool tweet that was all about the next generation of NVidia’s GPUs. It basically broke down into the 70-80 and 90 series. Now, once again, this was a joke-ish tweet but here are the specs. 12GB of Vram for the 4070 series, 20Gb for the 4080, and 24Gb for the 4090. All at a blazingly fast 24Gbps. Yeah, that seems optimistic, especially the 24Gbps part. GDDR6X is already dangerously hot, getting it up to 24Gbps seems like a way to introduce flames into your system’s esthetics.[...]
Then we have AMD in the news because their GPU is apparently going to push chiplets to the next level. We already know that AMD’s next step in the GPU game is to split up the graphics chip into smaller chiplets. I mean, they’ve already done it on their CDNA based Instinct MI250X. But it looks like for Navi 31, the company might take another leap in the technology. Now, this information comes from leaker extraordinaire, Greymon 55, and essentially, he’s saying that Navi 31, the highest end of AMD’s next-gen, will have 7 chiplets on a substrate. 7! That’s a lot of chiplets for a consumer part.
As is, we already know that 2 of them are the graphics cores. They would be built on the TSMC 5nm process. According to what we know so far, the third chiplet should be the interconnect, or the IO die built on TSMC’s 6nm process. But he said theres 7, so what could the other 4 be? Well, he says they’re called MCD’s. One guess would be Memory Complex Dies. As in, this could be for HBM memory, but I dont think AMD is taking a chance like that again. I mean Raja did a number on them with HBM. [...]
Lastly we have intel in the news. And we’re talking future Xe GPU’s. Redfire over on twitter took the information currently available from old and newer leaks and from intel documentation and made an educated guess at what Battlemage could be.
Battlemage by the way in the generation of GPU’s that is coming after Alchemist in around 2023 or 2024. Anyways, with intel’s tile system, a 2 tile version of Battlemage would have 10240 Vector engines, that’s like Intel’s Cuda cores, and with 4 tiles, we could see 20 480 Vector engines.
This might seem like an insane amount, but we’re looking at 2023 slash 2024. AMD and Nvidia will already cross the 15000 fp 32 cores by 2023. So if they want to compete in the high end, this is intel’s chance. Redfire does say that the 2 tile config is the most likely though, especially since intel did say that Battlemage is for Enthusiasts but not necessarily Ultra enthusiasts.
