Let’s get started with intel. So, now that ARC Alchemist has been announced, intel is basically letting some of their engineers and executives trickle down some information to us. During their presentation a couple of weeks ago, they unveiled a lot of specs related to their laptop GPUs but some of those specs were pretty confusing. Or at least they deserved to be explored a little more.
Well, 2 weeks later, that is what we got from Tom Petersen, Intel’s Graphics Innovation Fellow. So the slide that I'm talking about specifically is this one. I was confused as to what exactly that clock speed was. I knew it wasn't the boost clock since we’ve seen ARC GPU's like this A350M boost to 2200Mhz a couple of times even before its release. And as is, a 30 watt GPU would for sure not have the same boost clock or game clock as a 50W CPU with the same configuration.
So what are those clocks? Well, you can think of them as the absolute minimum boost clock the GPU can achieve if its in a TDP constrained environment. The intel Fellow gave an example with the A370M. the 1550 MHz clock speed is the lowest average clock that you will see. No matter what design the laptop has. And this is specific to the lowest TDP too, so 1550Mhz, is the clock you’ll see on the 30 watt A370M in the worst environment, on a typical application.
So basically, the base clock… Should have just said that…
Oh, and also, during that Livestream, Tom let it slip that he has a desktop version of the Alchemist GPU. They were discussing the design shown during the Livestream, you know the limited edition version. And he said that he hopes to get one, and that right now, he only has “This one”. It has 3 very well spaced 8 pin connectors and.. Yeah, that’s it. It's more likely to be a prototype than a different version of the card.

![AMD Ryzen 7000 RELEASE DATE Leaked! It’s EARLY!
Let’s get started with AMD. It looks like Christmas is coming early! The company just had its earnings call for the second quarter of this year, and they had some pretty interesting information about the release date. As you know, the Zen 4 based generation on the AM5 platform was announced during Computex. Or at least the release windows were announced, and it was slated for the fall of 2022.
I know I’ve been saying that a lot lately, but fall is between the 22nd of September, to the 21st of December. Recently, what we’ve been hearing is a release date of September 15th. So I was pretty skeptical about that date because its before fall. Now though, during that earnings call, Lisa said, Let me play the clip. * Looking ahead, we are on track to launch our all-new 5-nanometer Ryzen 7000 desktop processors and AM5 platforms later this quarter, with leading performance in gaming and content creation.” So yeah, it looks like the 15th is the actual release date! Another thing that caught my attention is this : *Our next-generation RDNA three architecture is another major step forward for our graphics roadmap, delivering more than a 50% generational improvement in performance per watt by combining our most advanced gaming architecture with 5-nanometer triplet manufacturing.*
Now it might just be an oversight, or maybe I’m wrong about this, but by Dr Su saying that they’re combining their best tech with 5nm chiplet manufacturing, doesnt that point towards a multi-chiplet GPU?

![Samsungs 990 Pro NVME is DESTROYING Itself?
Lets get started with Samsung. You know, over the years, Samsung really built a great reputation when it comes to solid-state storage. Their EVO and PRO lineup were definitely the top tier. I remember I was super excited when I got my first NVME drive. it was the 970 Evo, a super popular model. And its 5 years later and still going strong. Other brands now are also solid contenders, but there isn’t really one with Samsung’s pedigree.
Now though… Things might change. The company recently released its 990 pro nvme drive. Its still PCIe Gen 4, and its blazing fast almost maxing out the Gen 4 standard. It does up to 7450 MB per second in reads and up to 6,900 MB per second in writes. Plus, thanks to a better controller and newer firmware optimized for direct storage, this drive should be a beast in all categories. Tweaktown even gave it a 99% rating.
Anyways, its a great drive! So why did I say that things might change? Well.. reports are coming left and right of this drive basically killing itself. One of the first reports was from Midian on the overclock dot net forums. About a month after he bought his drive, he noticed that the health of the drive had already dropped down to 93%... OUCH. Could it be that he abused his drive ? Well not really. Crystal disk info shows that he only wrote about 7 TB worth of data. And if you do the math, given that 990 Pro’s are rated for 1200 Terabytes written,
That means he should be at 84 terabyte written to get to that 7% of usage. So maybe he got a bad drive? Well, if we jump over to reddit, Robbie kanh posted that his 990 pro also dropped significantly in health. Thanks to those 2 posts, this information was spread a little more by outlets like PC gamer and Tweaktown.

Lets get started with some GPU news. And today we got a bunch of stuff for the triforce of Graphics companies. Starting with the green team, we have an April fools joke turned into a leak. Kopite7Kimi over on Twitter had an Aprils fool tweet that was all about the next generation of NVidia’s GPUs. It basically broke down into the 70-80 and 90 series. Now, once again, this was a joke-ish tweet but here are the specs. 12GB of Vram for the 4070 series, 20Gb for the 4080, and 24Gb for the 4090. All at a blazingly fast 24Gbps. Yeah, that seems optimistic, especially the 24Gbps part. GDDR6X is already dangerously hot, getting it up to 24Gbps seems like a way to introduce flames into your system’s esthetics.[...]
Then we have AMD in the news because their GPU is apparently going to push chiplets to the next level. We already know that AMD’s next step in the GPU game is to split up the graphics chip into smaller chiplets. I mean, they’ve already done it on their CDNA based Instinct MI250X. But it looks like for Navi 31, the company might take another leap in the technology. Now, this information comes from leaker extraordinaire, Greymon 55, and essentially, he’s saying that Navi 31, the highest end of AMD’s next-gen, will have 7 chiplets on a substrate. 7! That’s a lot of chiplets for a consumer part.
As is, we already know that 2 of them are the graphics cores. They would be built on the TSMC 5nm process. According to what we know so far, the third chiplet should be the interconnect, or the IO die built on TSMC’s 6nm process. But he said theres 7, so what could the other 4 be? Well, he says they’re called MCD’s. One guess would be Memory Complex Dies. As in, this could be for HBM memory, but I dont think AMD is taking a chance like that again. I mean Raja did a number on them with HBM. [...]
Lastly we have intel in the news. And we’re talking future Xe GPU’s. Redfire over on twitter took the information currently available from old and newer leaks and from intel documentation and made an educated guess at what Battlemage could be.
Battlemage by the way in the generation of GPU’s that is coming after Alchemist in around 2023 or 2024. Anyways, with intel’s tile system, a 2 tile version of Battlemage would have 10240 Vector engines, that’s like Intel’s Cuda cores, and with 4 tiles, we could see 20 480 Vector engines.
This might seem like an insane amount, but we’re looking at 2023 slash 2024. AMD and Nvidia will already cross the 15000 fp 32 cores by 2023. So if they want to compete in the high end, this is intel’s chance. Redfire does say that the 2 tile config is the most likely though, especially since intel did say that Battlemage is for Enthusiasts but not necessarily Ultra enthusiasts.

Today, I want to talk about GPU pricing. We’ve seen them fall pretty hard in the last couple of months, but is this trend going to continue? Let’s talk about that, on your boot sequence.

![Intels ARC Information is FINALLY Useful! A750 Benchmarks
Let’s get started with intel. So the company has been on a marketing spree for quite some time now when it comes to their GPUs. Heck I think a couple of days ago, they released a long blog post about how and why the ARC division of the company came about. At some point, they even started to describe the GPUs physically, which, no one cares intel. The only relevant info about that blogpost was their promise to have a global launch ‘later this year.
Anyways, All this to say that the blog post was pretty much useless. To intel’s credit though, a couple of days later, they followed this up with a MEGA benchmark release. You know something that’s actually useful to know about a GPU. The performance benchmarks are for the Alchemist A750, and they’re comparing it to an RTX 3060. So, lets take a look. In total 42 games were tested on DX 12, and 6 were tested using the Vulkan API. According to intel, these games were not cherry-picked. They chose games that were quoted as “ Interesting “ saying that some of them are games used in GPU reviews, and others just popular steam games. As you can see in the normalized results, at 1080p ultra, both GPUs kinda trade blows, At least in those 42 games shown here. If we step up to 1440P but with high settings, it looks like the A750 does come out on top. And if we look at the Vulkan results, the results are pretty similar. Overall though, the A750 is about 3 to 5 % faster than the RTX 3060.

Let’s get started with AMD, and boy do we have a lot to cover since I kind of waited to get ourselves a little roundup of AMD-specific news. So first let’s talk about adrenalin. That’s their driver software, and the update just got released. In it, we get a feature that was leaked last week, AMD Noise Suppression. It sounds alright.
I tested it for a few minutes on this PC and while it does the job, it lacks tweaking. For example, the feature in the app is just on or off. You dont really get a slider as you do with Nvidia broadcast. Plus, I could hear keypresses here and there while typing. I give a C for coolness but it definitely would not pass the barnacles test Like RTX voice did * Show clip of barn *.
Anyways, that driver update also brings some performance improvements with OpenGL apps. According to AMD, in Minecraft, at 4K with settings at fabulous, their GPUs saw their framerates almost double. Now, this is some serious optimization.
Cool stuff AMD. But now lets move on to some unofficial stuff aka some leaks! what we now know is that their 7600X was benchmarked on userbenchmark. Now its a bad website to do a comparison between intel and AMD, but its fine for the same brands in my opinion. According to that test, the 7600X is an absolute beast. Its still a 6-core CPU with 12 threads, and of course, its an engineering sample so it might be an older chip, but look at that! This was compiled by Harukaze from the benchmark, and it shows that AMD scores 55% faster in single-core when compared to the 5600X. That’s just insanity. When it came to multi-core though, things look different with a still impressive 23% uplift.
