I had the great fortune of seeing the Rolling Stones play live in Hyde Park this year. Not only did they affirm my belief that they are the greatest band of all time, but far exceeded my somewhat, otherworldly expectations. From creating the archetype of what every rock band tends to be nowadays, to writing timeless songs ranging from blues to country to disco and reggae, to performing across the world for six decades, they've created a world of possibilities for musicians and non-musicians alike. In pirate-like fashion, the legend arrives before they do, and once they're before you, you remain one of the storytellers, trying to convince others that what you heard and saw, was true.
Alas, having already covered a lot of their material, I had to finally cover this one. Definitely one of my favourites. Incredible song, which unfortunately, they don't play live anymore due to the potential of people taking things too literally/too personally. As much as I support equality, I will never support anyone who thinks it's alright to ban or "cancel" music, novels or any form of art. Here's to the Rolling Stones and to 'Brown Sugar'.
