I was 15 years old. I walked into an old video-store in Athens and as per usual, went to the dance/music section. Somewhere between 'Purple Rain', 'Footloose' and 'Grease' was a film called 'Flashdance'. On a rainy October's night, along with a decent takeaway pizza, I fell in love with one of my all time favourite scenes in cinema. The unique, otherworldly nature of Jennifer Beals, the iconic cinematography and that haunting nocturnal sound of the 80's emanated through Michael Sembello tattooed my mind. You can't hear the song without seeing her dance through your mind, and you can't see her dance without hearing echoes of that song. This one's dedicated to my teenage dreams of wanting to create the kind of music Michael Sembello created, and of course, to that teenage crush I believe most of us had on Jennifer Beals.
