Like the Rolling Stones, the Red Hot Chili Peppers feel like one of those bands that was "always there." Through the years, they've created music that feels timeless and infinite. How could there be a world without 'Californication'? Some songs feel like they were written. Others feel like they were discovered by musical archaeologists, hidden by the sands of time, and yet sound like they always existed. Undoubtedly, one of my greatest influences as a musician, the band not only deeply informs the way I play guitar, or write lyrics but inspires my love of music. Anthony Kiedis; lyrics that are so personal and yet so relatable in the most mystical of ways in a voice that is always honest. Flea; the closest thing to the spirit of music since Stevie Wonder. Hearing him cry while he talks about music, reminds me that I'm not the only one who feels this way. He is freedom. Chad Smith; instantly recognisable and steady as a rock. The eccentricities and powerful musical personas in the band would be lost without him. John Frusciante; painting upon the silent canvas, in the most vivid and soulful of ways. He's the Van Gogh of guitar. Thank you, for creating music that is always so close to my heart. It feels good to have another collection of your musical alchemy.
