I recall this being one of the few songs I was able to sing back when my voice was changing. I first came across Soft Cell's version, until one day I was looking into some Marc Bolan (big T.Rex fan here) history and found that his partner, Gloria Jones had recorded the original version. I love both versions. Ms. Jones' for the fluidity and sheer raw power of her vocals, Soft Cell's for the fact that they breathed a new life into it, keeping it simple and making a teenage me believe that maybe I could sing too.
