I beat the Roguish Patient in one turn. This is the hardest one-turn completion I've done in VC4, and among the hardest I've done in any VC game. The goal is to kill all 12 enemies. You have 6 CP (with one person promoted to leader) and the enemy has 3 CP. While working on the level, I learned a few things: Connor has the potential Chasing Inspiration, which lets him act twice in one move; there are multiple opportunities for double headshots; and there are a couple places where you can kill an enemy with friendly fire and then kill another enemy in the same move. These all bode well for a one-turn completion, and indeed I ended up using each of them. But they only took me so far. Even with the Double Ammo Belt, Connor is limited to 5 ammo, so he can only make two double-attack moves. Some of the friendly fire opportunities overlap with the double headshot opportunities, so I can't use both of them. Perhaps most vexing is the enemy's AI. Almost every unit likes to stand around doing nothing, even if you're right in front of him. Others will move under certain conditions, but it's not entirely clear what those conditions are. As a result, it's hard to make kills during the enemy phase. After racking my brain and messing around in the level long enough, though, I finally found a solution, the key to which lies in my final move and in the enemy phase. Below are some notes on my strategy.

Connor: Double Ammo Belt (+2 Ammo)
Teresa: Combat Boots (+40 AP)
Jester: Elite Boots (+50 AP)

Moves:

1. (Teresa) The trooper I shoot here is hiding in a shelter, so he can't be hit by Connor (a grenadier). After taking care of him, I make a quick friendly fire kill and move north.

2. (Teresa) I kill two more enemies with a double headshot.

3-5. (Connor). I kill a total of five enemies, exhausting all of Connor's ammo. I need Chasing Inspiration to activate at least twice.

6. (Jester) First, I sight the crawling scout in the northeast. Enemies seem to take more damage after being sighted, at least in some scenarios. I tried the grenade launcher shot seen in the video quite a few times without sighting the scout first, and it never killed him; but it killed him every time when I sighted him first. Killing the scout is only one of my goals with this move, though. On the enemy phase, if the lancer is still hidden in the grass, then he won't move. I want him to move, so I make sure to hit him with the grenade. I then carefully position myself in preparation for the enemy phase.

Enemy Phase: Here's where it gets tricky. As I mentioned above, most of the enemies don't move during the enemy phase. One of the few who can is the lancer. He runs south, then tries to hit Jester. Jester dodges and the shot kills the trooper behind him instead. Jester then counterattacks and kills the lancer.

I don't think I've seen anyone make a friendly fire kill like the one I use against the trooper. It could be a useful addition to the toolbox for turn attacking.
