Since the 2015 Paris Agreement, the world’s richest 1 % have increased their wealth by close to 34 trillion dollars, enough to end global poverty 22 times over.
This grotesque inequality, in which the wealthiest 10% are estimated to have added a whopping TWO THIRDS of global warming since 1990 is a climate catastrophe. Taxing a small percentage of this astonishing wealth would provide necessary resources to transition from the present climate destroying systems and give the world a chance at survival.
