What is the recipe for unhappiness?

According to Chazal and the teachings of Pirkei Avot, it begins when we attach our self-worth to things we cannot control, especially the approval, praise, or affirmation of other people.

In this short teaching, Chief Rabbi Dr Warren Goldstein explains why chasing validation leaves us anxious and insecure, and why real self-worth must come from a deeper, more stable source: from Hashem, and from living a life of purpose.

Key themes:
– The search for validation
– Why external approval cannot create happiness
– Self-worth in Jewish thought
– Pirkei Avot and emotional wisdom
– Finding recognition from Hashem, not people
