Are human beings majestic... or pathetic?

In this Torah reflection, Chief Rabbi Dr Warren Goldstein explores the paradox at the heart of the human condition.

On the one hand, we are created in God’s image, capable of brilliance and creativity. Medicine, science, architecture, literature. On the other hand, we are frail, transient, and vulnerable.

Judaism teaches us to hold both truths at once. To see the majesty of human potential, and the fragility of human life.

Key themes:
– Jewish view of the human condition
– Created in God’s image (b’tzelem Elokim)
– Hubris and humility
– Greatness and vulnerability
– Torah philosophy on humanity
