The history of Mesoamerica has been handed down by the Spanish conquistadors. Modern Archaeologist have disputed many of their claims about the native Indians brutality as wildly exaggerated, particularly the numbers of victims of sacrifice, or level of advancement. In his video entitled 'The Myth of the Wicked Colonialist' Simon Webb puts forward the argument that the Spanish conquers were a 'blessing' to the native peoples and the Aztecs were a backward people. In this video I try to show that this is simply untrue. I am not an expert on this subject and have probably got some things wrong. However, I stick to my argument that Colonial Imperialism is essentially bad and Simon Webb hasn't debunked anything in his video except the fact that he is an honest historian.
