Metronome magazine article August 1947 by Leonard Feather. Notice in this interview that Parker says 'lets not call it Bebop. Let's call it music'. As in his 1949 article 'No Bop Roots in Jazz' Parker tries to distance Bop from the rest of the Jazz world, particulary the New Orleans school which was giving Be-bop such a high level of abuse at this time. Notice also that Parker has a dig at them - refering to a New Orleans style band at Billy Bergs as 'ancient Jazz'.
