This is the only 4-valve solution that’s as comfortable to hold as a 3-valve trumpet. Consisting of 3 pistons and 1 rotor, it’s a superior solution for the 4-valve trumpet as designed by Adam Rapa. Controlling the rotary valve trigger with your left thumb is incredibly easy and feels natural in no time.
With this design, the 4th valve is an "F-attachment" which gives you 5 more semitones lower than the normal range of the instrument, down to pedal C#. This is a total game-changer for anyone looking to expand their range and gain access to the wealth of music written for many other instruments, and open up a new world of creative possibilities.
The Rapa 4-Valve design is also a much more comfortable, elegant solution for players who want a quarter-tone trumpet. Alternatively, we can install a special 4th valve (rotor) to be used for dropping every pitch on the instrument by a quarter tone.
