Now, to be absolutely clear, I do not recommend this as a method for aspiring picture frame makers to go into production - there’s a reason why commercial framers use cast iron Morso guillotines - but, if you need a quick frame making - or perhaps a last-minute gift - and all you have available is a tracksaw, then yes, it’s absolutely doable. Enjoy!
This is my last scheduled public YouTube video for 2022, thank you so much for watching. Ill be back in 2023, but not until February; I’ve been posted regular videos for six years now, pretty much without missing a beat, and I think it’s time to take a breather. I’ll still be posting regularly to the members at 10MinuteWorkshop Plus and the public YouTube videos will resume in February, but for January I’ll be taking a break and catching up with family, where I can.

In this one it’s my pleasure to formally launch the next 10MinuteWorkshop product, the Router MultiJig. A little like a Swiss army knife of router jigs, it covers seven broad use cases; there are three types of handle cut-outs, four sizes of bar handle fixings positions, there’s a run of five holes on 32mm centres eg for shelf-pins, concealed hinge and hinge plate marking positions, there are offset dog hole extension holes for a traditional 96mm grid MFT top, there are inline dog hole extension for alternative 128mm grid MFT tops, and there are corner radii that’ll give you four different corner sizes.

In this one I’m making some simple #plywood wall #cabinets for the #workshop, but without using a tape measure, a rule, or a square, and without nails or screws. I’ll be making housings and rebates (dados and rabbets) but I won’t be using a router or a table saw, just a tracksawsaw, and I’m doing this not to make life difficult for myself, but to remind ourselves that folks have been making nicely turned out bits of woodwork for thousands of years, long before we had fancy tools and that a lot of the time, all you really need is a piece of string or a mark on a stick for the overall dimensions - everything else you can work from those basic measurements. This is my ‘first impressions’ video of the CSCSYS50, a cordless sliding table saw from Festool.
I’ve had the saw commissioned for about a week, and this is my honest assessment of it at this stage. I have no axe to grind with Festool, and you should spend your money on the tools you find most appropriate for the work you do. I really like the saw and it does exactly what I expected of it, but there are some very odd design decisions that I struggle to understand.

Back at the workshop drawer cabinet and in this one I make the final pair of inset drawer boxes from Birch-faced Poplar plywood with Maple faced globulus plywood fronts using loose tenons and Peanut 2 connectors, and I fit them with full extension soft-close undermount or concealed drawer slides. Enjoy!
