Here's a commercial for The Original Ker-Bangers - [Kerbangers, Clacker Balls, Clankers, Clackers, Click-Clacks, Klick-Klacks, Klackers, Das Klackenballen?] available at Smitty's (they "brought them back") - "Putting it All Together...Just for You." Basically the plastic ball toy where you clicked them together by moving the attached string up and down while holding on to a ring.

These toys were manufactured by the Chuck Howard Toy Co. of Inglewood, California. Despite being labeled "SHATTERPROOF" and "UNBREAKABLE", the hard plastic acrylic balls often did indeed shatter, crack, chip, and break and could become very dangerous in the blink of an eye - thus, they were banned and the subject of a nationwide product recall by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, which was issued in December 1985.
