Gau 8 Avenger
The GAU-8 Avenger 30mm gun system was designed primarily to be a Close Air Support "Tank Buster" for the United States Air Force. The Avenger, like the previous M61 20mm Vulcan design, has seven barrels and fires at a rate of 3,900 rounds per minute. The Avenger shoots a combination of 30mm electrically primed PGU-13/B high explosive incendiary rounds and PGU-14/B armor-piercing incendiary rounds. While the HEI rounds allow the Avenger to destroy light-skinned vehicles, the API rounds pack the most impact, containing more than half a pound of super-dense Depleted Uranium. At 4,000 feet, a 2-second burst from the GAU-8 delivers 100 rounds containing 65 pounds of DU, with 80 percent of these projectiles landing within 20 feet of the target. The GAU-8 is only utilized by the United States Air Force's A-10 Thunderbolt II, a dedicated Close Air Support aircraft constructed around the Avenger gun system.
TOS-1A
The TOS-1A large flamethrower system is designed to provide direct fire assistance to advancing infantry units and main battle tanks while following their combat instructions. It is useful against entrenched persons. The TOS-1A is used for clearing buildings, field fortifications, and bunkers. It's also effective against lightly armored vehicles. The heavy flamethrower system functions similarly to multiple-launch rocket systems, but it launches various types of rockets and has a significantly shorter firing range. The primary component of the TOS-1A system is the BM-1 launcher vehicle. In comparison to the original TOS-1, the number of launching tubes was reduced from 30 to 24, with three rows of eight tubes each. New launching tubes are longer than the old heavy flamethrower system. There are at least two varieties of 220 mm rockets. These are 3.3 and 3.7 meters long, weighing 173 and 217 kilograms, respectively. The TOS-1A employs longer rockets and has a greater range than its predecessor. The maximum firing range was increased to 6,000 meters. The minimum range is 400 meters.
