Previously in our series on the world of Tolkien, the world of the Lord of the Rings, we have talked about the First and Third ages of the Middle-Earth, covering the entire of the Third Age and the war of the ring (youtu.be/BmqKXTqXglM), the rise of Morgoth in the First Age (youtu.be/LFQ9RyGJ5uw) and his fall (youtu.be/ewrJVLdPx9k), as well as the economy and the societies of the Middle-Earth (youtu.be/B86jAx_gPPU). Middle-earth is returning to the big screen with The Hunt for Gollum and Shadow of the Past, but which Tolkien stories should come next? In this video, we examine five untold Lord of the Rings stories that could become spectacular feature films. The Witch-king’s centuries-long war against Arnor could culminate in the Battle of Fornost. The Battle of Dale and Erebor could reveal the forgotten northern front of the War of the Ring. Thranduil, Galadriel, and Celeborn could take centre stage in the fiery battles for Mirkwood and Lothlórien. Balin’s doomed expedition to reclaim Moria could become a dark fantasy horror film, while Eorl the Young’s legendary ride could show the birth of Rohan.
