Sherwood Callaway says dashboards are dumb, and he has a clear reason why.
You either look at a dashboard because it makes you feel good, or because you're nervous about your application's stability and staring at a screen alleviates that nervousness. Neither is a good reason. People don't find new problems from dashboards. The logical end state is a default assumption that your product is working, and a staff engineer like Sazabi reaching out when something breaks, telling you which customer is affected and how to fix it. No dashboard required.
