During the early Rolling Thunder missions, the USAF relied on the F-100 Super Sabre to provide MIGCAPs, Combat Air Patrols to protect strike formations from North Vietnamese MiGs. On 04 April 1965, another airstrike was sent against the railway bridge at Than Hoa. F-100s provided fighter cover. The North Vietnamese pilots were successful attacking the F-105s but they suffered heavy losses too, three of their MiG-17s being shot down. At the same time, no American pilot was given a victory credit. How is that possible? Check out in this video.
