In this impactful message, "The Mercy To Go Next," Pastor Ebenezer Quaye powerfully illustrates how God's mercy is crucial for stepping into your future. Drawing from Exodus 25:21-22, he begins by explaining the Old Testament concept of the Mercy Seat – a golden slab atop the Ark of the Covenant, where God's presence rested and annual atonement rituals for sins were performed.

Pastor Quaye then shifts to the New Testament truth: Jesus Christ is our ultimate Mercy Seat. Through His sacrifice on the cross, our sins are forgiven "once and for all," eliminating the need to wait or wonder about atonement.

A central theme is the vital need for believers to be "more merciful towards ourselves". We often drain our "strength" by "charging ourselves for crimes we've already been acquitted for". God's mercies are "tender new mercies" that greet us "every morning," and we are called to simply receive them, as they are "too expensive" to earn or pay for.

The Hebrew word for mercy, kofer, signifies to cover, plate, cancel, cleanse, forgive, pardon, and reconcile. This divine cancellation of debt is vividly demonstrated through the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant in Matthew 18:23. The servant, forgiven an unpayable "10,000 bags of gold," then refused to forgive a peer owing a mere "100 silver coins". This reveals the servant's true issue was not a "debt problem" but a "mercy problem". Pastor Quaye warns that failing to receive God's mercy for ourselves often leads to being unmerciful to others, creating a self-imposed "bondage" even after external problems are solved.

The message also highlights Jesus's profound compassion, noting His instruction to a formerly demon-possessed man to "tell them what great things the Lord has done for you and how he has had compassion on you" (Mark 5:18). Even on the cross, Jesus extended radical mercy, praying, "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do".

Ultimately, embracing God's mercy allows us to fully step into our identity as a "new creation" in Christ. As 2 Corinthians 5:17 states, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new". This transformation, a gift of mercy, frees us from the "bondage of sin" and the futility of trying to earn what has already been freely given. Pastor Quaye urges us to shed the "old receipts" of past sins and guilt, confidently knowing that "we've already won" in Christ.

If you're ready to embrace a life free from the weight of past mistakes and step boldly into your God-given future, this message is for you.

Key Takeaways:
• Receive God's Daily Mercy: His mercies are new every morning and are freely given, not earned.
• Forgive Yourself: Stop "charging yourself for crimes you've already been acquitted for".
• Beware the "Mercy Problem": Unforgiveness towards self often leads to unforgiveness towards others.
• Embrace Your New Creation Identity: In Christ, you are new, and "all things have become new" by His mercy.
• Step into "Next": Releasing past burdens is essential to move forward into God's plans for your life.

Think of it like being given a paid-off house. You receive the deed, confirming it's yours, no more mortgage payments. God's mercy is like that paid-off deed for your sins. If you keep sending in "payments" (guilt, self-condemnation) for what's already settled, you're needlessly draining your energy and preventing yourself from moving into the comfort and freedom of the new home He's already provided for your "next" season.
