Dr. Anita Phillips challenges us to Refuse To Be Confused and stop looking for what we want to see, urging us instead to listen for what we need to hear. Anchored in Isaiah 55:8-9, she emphasizes that God's ways and thoughts are higher than ours.
Babylon literally means confusion, defined as a disorder where things are mixed (confund) until clear distinction is lost. The goal of the Babylonian exile was to absorb Israel’s best leaders, artists, and skilled workers to benefit from their gifts while restricting their divine source of worship. Dr. Phillips warns that external information (like business or science facts) must be sanctified on the altar of God’s fire to prevent spiritual disorder.
To gain coherence (where everything matches), nothing—no spiritual gift or prophecy—must contradict the pages of the Bible. This requires a "holy no," following Daniel, who "purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself" with the king's provisions.
Finally, God’s Word "shall not return to me void" (Isaiah 55:11). We complete this cycle by returning the word to God "full of life" through our testimony and praise (the water cycle analogy). We are called to be the sound of the echo of God's word in every endeavor.
